Day Trips

Introduce your pupils to a taste of France by taking a day trip. An ideal way to introduce pupils to the delights and culture of Northern France. Travel by coach from school, take a ferry or Eurotunnel service across the Channel and use the coach throughout your day. Alternatively, take Eurostar directly to Paris or Lille; the choice is yours.

Boulogne is one of the premier fishing ports of France. The High Town is one of the most beautiful citadels in France: visit the Belfry Chateau Museum, Notre Dame cathedral, and the Convent of the Annunciation. You can also include a visit to Nausicaa the largest European complex dedicated to the understanding of ocean environments. The centre has been attributed an Excellency Centre award by UNESCO in 1999.

Calais is an interesting town with a combination of old and new developments. There is a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and indoor and outdoor markets.

Le Touquet is a cosmopolitan, seaside resort approximately 40 minutes drive from Calais. The town is ideal for pupils to spend a day either by the sea or in the forest inland of the town. A very compact town with lots of shops and restaurants. Visit the Aqualud Water Park ~ 5,000 square metres under a glass pyramid ~ a great day out!

Lille is easily accessible by Eurostar and has plenty for pupils of all ages to do and see.

Street markets are an important part of French culture and are held in Boulogne on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday mornings; and in Le Touquet on Monday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. A visit to the huge shopping centre of Cité Europe in Calais may be included. For a Winter day trip, why not take in the famous Christmas market in Lille?

You can also include an overnight stay in one of our recommended hotels in Calais, Boulogne, Lille or Le Touquet. A perfect opportunity for your pupils to immerse themselves further in the French language and culture.

Paris

Experience the unique Parisian atmosphere as you stroll along the banks of the Seine, through the Latin Quarter, or around the Jardin des Tuileries. Take in the Eiffel Tower, go and see the Mona Lisa or take a boat trip through the heart of Paris.

Futurescope

Parc du Futuroscope is much more than your average theme park and is enjoyed by all the pupils as well as the adults. You can learn more about the park from their great website designed especially for teachers: You can also download study packs for your group which are designed to provide curriculum support at key stages 3 and 4, GCSE and A level in the following subjects: Media Studies, Science, Modern Languages (French).

Disneyland Paris

Combine sightseeing in Paris with a day in Disneyland Paris as part of your Paris tour. Alternatively, spend 2 fun-filled days in the Magic Kingdom, staying overnight at a nearby hotel.
