Why SJA ?
Some simple reasons:
Full financial cover for any eventuality through ABTA and ATOL.
Insurance at group rate specifically for schools (we are agent for Zurich)
Tours tailored to each group individually by the SJA office staff.
Full safety checks on the services contracted.
Risk Assessment advice.
Seamless travel arrangements.
Accommodation aimed at meeting groups needs for privacy, meals arrangements, menus.
Clear lists of things to be organised, who does which and when.
Prewritten forms for communicating with pupils/parents; teachers, heads, governors, LEA OEA's, etc.
Preliminary leader visit where necessary.
Grants for needy individuals.
Emergency system.
SJA is run by teachers or ex-teachers.
Their experience has shaped the way it works because the members understand the many human issues, as well as the logistics, that bedevil a teacher when taking a group out of school. SJA believes that the best way to deal with this is to encourage partnerships between all those involved; clients, coach and accommodation companies and itself. It has always looked for accommodation that is run by sympathetic people and, remarkably, still finds them in many venues. This gives shared responsibility and a sense of commitment to all parties in the knowledge that children remember a successful tour for a long time!
In recent years much has been said about the increasing difficulty of taking
groups out because of the rise in adversarial action. SJA works to help
teachers get through this by supplying guidance papers honed down from Government
and others, specifically to what teachers need, omitting the generalised
statements.
These "Safety Documents" encapsulate everything SJA can think
of that is needed (so they are always being updated). They show where the
advantage of using SJA comes, not in cost but in expertise. |
